Adweek's DEI Series Hosts Disability Inclusion Summit

Adweek's ongoing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) series recently hosted the Disability Inclusion Summit. The event, part of the larger DEI initiative, focused on disability inclusion in marketing and advertising. Becky Kekula, director of the Disability Equality Index at Disability:IN, shared valuable insights to guide attendees.

Kekula advised, 'Ask questions. Don't make assumptions. Let us tell the stories of our lived experiences.' This approach encourages open dialogue and understanding, crucial for meaningful disability inclusion. The summit built on previous DEI events, which included discussions with Black leaders, LGBTQ+ Pride Stars, Asian American leaders, and Hispanic/Latinx leaders.

The Disability Inclusion Summit featured eight leaders from marketing and advertising. Despite search results not providing their names, these figures shared personal experiences and perspectives, enriching the conversation on disability inclusion.

The Disability Inclusion Summit, part of Adweek's DEI series, successfully fostered dialogue and understanding around disability inclusion in marketing and advertising. Becky Kekula's advice set the tone, encouraging open communication and learning from those with lived experiences. The event's impact on shaping more inclusive practices in the industry is anticipated.
