Adapting university admissions to match industry demands, PAAET unveils plans for AI and digital media degree programs

The Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) is gearing up for the 2025/2026 academic year with a host of new specialized programs aimed at meeting market demands. Among these new initiatives are a four-year Fire Engineering degree and a program for Technical Classifications Inspectors, as well as nearly 60 other specializations across five colleges and five institutes [1][2].

With around 59,000 students currently enrolled, PAAET is one of Kuwait's largest educational bodies. The authority is now accepting applications for these programs, with a guidance campaign underway at The Avenues mall [1][2].

In addition to these new programs, PAAET is also focusing on skill acquisition, particularly in communication and lesson preparation, at the College of Basic Education. The organization is also planning to launch professional diplomas that better align with market demands, such as a diploma in Artificial Intelligence, a Digital Media diploma (in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, set for 2026-2027), and a Tourism diploma [3].

Currently, first-semester admissions are limited to Kuwaiti students. However, a decision on whether private study will be extended to the University of Applied Sciences is expected soon [2].

PAAET collaborates with major entities like the Ministry of Health, Kuwait Airways, and the Kuwait National Petroleum Company, as well as private sector organizations, especially in education, to secure employment for graduates [4].

The new organizational structure of PAAET includes a Director General with the rank of Undersecretary, two deputies at the level of Assistant Undersecretary, and a General Administration Director [5]. The Director General of PAAET is Dr. Hassan Al-Fajjam.

Admissions for the second semester may change based on circumstances. Initial admissions for the "Marine Guide" program will open in September, followed by interviews and academic assessments in the second semester [1]. Graduates of the Fire Engineering degree will earn the rank of fire engineer lieutenant [6].

PAAET offers a private expense return path for students previously expelled or with poor academic standing, subject to guidelines, for those close to completing their studies [7]. The authority also partners with the Ministry of Defense to offer the "Technical Classifications Inspector" program [1].

Pursuing personal growth and learning, students at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) have the opportunity to enroll in a variety of specialized programs focused on education-and-self-development, such as the four-year Fire Engineering degree and the Technical Classifications Inspectors program. Additionally, PAAET is offering professional diplomas aligned with market demands, including a diploma in Artificial Intelligence and a Digital Media diploma, to foster skill acquisition within their students.
