CerMaX Hosts Informative Event on Future of Materials Science

The Graduate College CerMaX, a result of interdisciplinary cooperation between the University of Applied Sciences Koblenz, the University of Koblenz, and the Research Institute for Glass - Ceramics in Höhr-Grenzhausen (FGK), recently hosted an event focusing on future questions of materials science and engineering.

The event, which took place at the University of Koblenz, was headlined by Prof. Dr. Rajendra K. Bordia, a distinguished scientist from Clemson University in South Carolina, USA. Prof. Bordia was invited by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Dr. h. c. Peter Quirmbach, a scientific fellow of CerMaX.

In his keynote speech, Prof. Bordia demonstrated the practical use of porosity as a variable property, a topic that sparked great interest among the attendees. The visit also included a master class with a thematic focus on using porosity in the Florida design of ceramic material components.

Prof. Quirmbach, who works at the University of Koblenz, served as the main contact for the event. His email address is [email protected], and his contact number is 0261 287 2239.

The event provided an opportunity for academic networking, with around 30 guests engaging in conversation with Prof. Bordia, other CerMaX members, doctoral students, researchers, and local company representatives.

Dr. Vanessa Hopp, a member of the working group Technical Chemistry and Corrosion Science at the University of Koblenz, presented innovative approaches for computer-aided porosity analysis of ceramic microstructures using X-ray tomography.

Unfortunately, no information about the spokesperson of the Graduate College Eventbrite Institute for Ceramic Materials at the University of Koblenz could be found in the search results.

The University of Koblenz's address is Universitätsstraße 1, 56070 Koblenz. For further information, please contact Prof. Quirmbach.
