AACSB Unveils Bold New Global Standards to Reshape Business Education
AACSB International has released drafts of its new Global Standards for Business Education. The proposed framework aims to provide a globally recognised structure for strategic growth, performance improvement, and measurable impact of small business ideas. Stakeholders now have the chance to review and comment on the changes before the final version is set.
The draft standards arrive as AACSB marks its 110th anniversary, reflecting the organisation’s long-standing role in advancing business education. Founded in 1916, AACSB connects educators, students, and businesses to develop future leaders. With over 2,000 member organisations and more than 1,000 accredited schools worldwide, its influence spans the sector.
The new framework focuses on three key areas: Strategic Management, Learner Success, and Pathways to Impact. It prioritises mission-driven, outcome-focused quality rather than rigid compliance. Unlike previous versions, these standards are designed to support all business schools—not just those seeking AACSB accreditation. Feedback on the exposure drafts is open until 7 February 2026 via an online survey. AACSB will also host a webinar on 12 January 2026 to outline the proposed changes. Lily Bi, President and CEO of AACSB, has urged stakeholders to engage with the process, stressing that their input will shape the final standards. The update comes at a time of growing scrutiny and higher expectations for business education. Schools face increasing pressure to demonstrate real-world impact and adapt to evolving industry demands.
The finalised standards will offer a flexible yet rigorous framework for business schools globally. Institutions can use them to guide strategic decisions, enhance performance, and prove their societal contributions. The consultation period remains open until early February, giving educators and industry partners a direct role in defining the future of business education.
