A new school for 1500 students was opened in the Turkestan region
A new school for 1,500 students has officially opened in Atakent, a settlement in the Maktaaral District of Turkestan Region. The facility is the first project completed under the region’s infrastructure renewal programme, aimed at improving educational access for rural children.
The school spans 14,710 square metres and includes modern amenities. Students will have access to spacious classrooms, dedicated labs for specialised subjects, and a well-equipped gymnasium. Additional facilities feature an assembly hall, a cafeteria, cultural event spaces, and conference rooms.
The opening ceremony was attended by Nurlan Kushirov, the regional governor. His presence highlighted the project’s significance as part of broader educational reforms. The school directly addresses the local shortage of student places while offering improved learning conditions. This new institution marks the 29th school built in Turkestan Region under President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s directives. While the architect and construction firm remain undisclosed, the project aligns with the government’s push to modernise rural education.
The school’s completion provides 1,500 students with a purpose-built learning environment. It also sets a precedent for future infrastructure projects in the region. Further developments under the renewal programme are expected to follow.
