1,300+ Educators Trained for 2025 National School Leadership Assessment

Over 1,300 teaching and non-teaching staff recently attended a five-day capability-building programme in Cebu City. The event aimed to prepare participants for the National Assessment for School Heads (NASH) in 2025. Organised by the Department of Education (DepEd) Region 7, the training focused on strengthening leadership skills across five key domains.

The programme took place from March 9 to 13, 2026, at the DepEd Ecotech Center in Sudlon, Lahug. Attendees came from various divisions, including 498 from Bohol, 485 from Cebu Province, and smaller groups from cities like Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, and Tagbilaran. The training was led by the Human Resource Development Division (HRDD) under Regional Director Dr. Salustiano T. Jimenez.

Five expert speakers covered different leadership areas. Dr. Misael G. Borgonia led Domain 1 on strategic leadership, while Dr. Merden L. Bryant taught Domain 2 on managing school operations. Dr. Reynaldo D. Anto focused on teaching and learning, Dr. Benjamin D. Tiongzon addressed personal and professional development, and Dr. Sofronio D. Paragoso covered building connections. Borgonia also highlighted the programme's goal: supporting school heads in leading effectively and ethically. Irene C. Mutia, a teacher from Pilar National High School, shared her appreciation for the training. She noted how it deepened her understanding of the Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads (PPSSH). The sessions provided practical insights into the five leadership domains assessed in NASH.

The training equipped 1,363 participants with skills aligned to the PPSSH framework. School staff from across Central Visayas now have stronger tools for leadership and school management. The programme's impact will be measured as attendees apply their learning in the 2025 NASH assessment.
